TALKING STICK GOLF CLUB REOPENS AFTER RENOVATIONS

Talking Stick Golf Club Reopens After Renovations

The Talking Stick Golf Club, an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), celebrates the grand reopening after extensive renovations. The Salt River Indian Community is comprised of two distinct Native American tribes; the Akimel O’odham (River People), commonly known as the Pima and the Xalychidom Piipaash (Upriver People) commonly known as the Maricopa; both share the same cultural values but maintain their unique traditions. The Talking Stick Golf Club has always embodied the cultural design influences from the Community it resides on and now that construction is complete, the Golf Club truly showcases the beauty of Salt River.

SRPMIC Tribal Council

As soon as guests enter the doors of the newly renovated Talking Stick Golf Club, greetings from the O’odham and Piipaash language provide a warm welcome. The entrance allows guests the opportunity to learn about the Salt River Indian Community, the two tribes and the Talking Stick name.

The Talking Stick is a contemporary representation of the traditional calendar stick which records significant events for the tribe. Calendar sticks feature carvings or “symbols” that emphasize different events throughout the year. The Talking Stick name and logo is a way SRPMIC shares and tells the story of the Community development and the economic impact. Each of the symbols on the Talking Stick logo represent a destination in the Talking Stick Entertainment District with the third carving recording the opening of the Talking Stick Golf Club in 1998.

As Talking Stick Golf Club opened in 1998, this Valley favorite was ready for some upgrades. The expansion of the Clubhouse includes the Talking Stick Golf Club Grill, Golf Shop, event spaces, a full catering kitchen along with separate bride and groom rooms.

The Red Mountain Event Hall allows up to 230 guests. When combining with the outdoor space a total of 500 guests can be accommodated. A new marriage ceremony site offers a majestic mountain backdrop with up to 300 guests seated atop pavers arranged in an O’odham basket design.

In addition to the newly renovated Golf Club, brand new installments include a snack bar called the Sandwich House and a world-class Talking Stick Golf Academy in partnership with True Spec Golf club fitting and Vision54 golf instruction.
